Jake visits the Tremere Chantry, but has trouble even getting through the front door. The Tremere watch him from a distance, and finally Jake passes their test. Inside, he meets the Regent, who wishes to commission a piece of artwork. The Regent gives Jake free run of the Chantry as he leaves to attend to some business with Hasan. Jake can tell instantly that the two dislike each other intensely. He meets a few of the local Kindred, such as thin-blood Cassandra Firelli, and the creepy child vampire, Miss.
After nearly coming to blows with upstart Tremere Jonas Creed, Hasan drives Jake home from the Chantry. Along the way, he lists off the reasons he hates the Tremere, and why Jake should not trust them. When the subject gets to the Salubri, Hasan encourages Jake to read a book on the subject; a book currently stores in Seavers & Smythe Rare Books.
After plenty of briefing, Hasan takes Jake to the rare book store, at which point they happen across Mr. Seavers, the Kiasyd. Jake successfully manages to hold a conversation with the vampire without having his arms torn off. Hasan assures him this is a major accomplishment.

The British Malkavian
Jake is introduced to Pockets, who is delivering his new identity. After a brief chat, Jake receives a call from the Prince's ghoul, requesting an immediate audience. Since Pockets lives at the Alhambra, Jake is given a ride there. Inside, he meets Jean Cormier, the Tremere Regent, and Jacob Holloway, the Prince. Before he leaves, the Regent extends an invitation to Jake to visit the Chantry tomorrow night.
The Prince interrogates him on the incidents of the previous night, and once the formal business is concluded, informs Jake of some of the finer points of the Kindred world. He offers Jake a well-paying job as a mechanic at the Alhambra, and gets to work building him an auto shop on the premises. Jake doesn't seem to realize that this is a less-than-subtle attempt to keep Jake under close observation.

Nines
Jake is suffering through a particularly dismal Camarilla party to celebrate the sale of his artwork and his welcome into their coterie. There he meets Hasan, who introduces him to Luc Beaumont, the leader of a pack of autarchs. At Hasan's encouragement, Jake sneaks out with the Pack to play a game of nines in the Iron Graveyard. The game starts off as good fun, but goes horribly wrong when Jake mistakes a Sabbat shovelhead for a player, and shoots him.
The Pack makes short work of the Sabbat, but Chianna Grimaldi, the Sabbat Cardinal, interrupts their escape. The penalty for violating the accord is death, and Luc takes full responsibility. However, Chianna acts without a trial and the Camarilla arrive in time to stop the execution, blowing off Chianna's arm in the process. Hasan, Susan, and Jean cormier, the Tremere Regent, arrive to stare down the Cardinal.
After the dust settles, Susan takes Jake to go hunting for a meal. Jake learns how to pick a lock and infiltrate a kine's home. However, the operation goes sour, and Jake has to escape when the homeowner pulls out a shotgun.
As Susan drops Jake off at his new place, she mentions that his fake identity is almost ready, and their hacker will be by tomorrow night to drop off her work.

The Embrace
After enjoying his last meal and watching his final sunset, Jake joins Susan in her apartment for the Embrace. After she drains him of his blood, he awakens to find she has brought the drug dealer to the haven, and Jake has killed him. Susan's associates arrange for Jake's death to be staged, and the works of the now-deceased artist to be auctioned off to pay for Jake's new identity.

Night School
Budding artist Jake Lincoln meets with his art teacher after a night class. After a run-in with a drug dealer in Jake's trashy neighbourhood, Susan is shot twice but remains standing. She reveals to Jake that she is a Kindred, and she offers him the opportunity to become her childe; to live in a world where he would not fear guns, and would have an eternity to perfect his art, but she also informs him of the downsides. Susan leaves him to consider her offer, but warns him that telling anyone what he knows would be very dangerous.
